Footage from Soviet Montage productions shot on two EOS 5D Mk II‘s has shown off the potential for high dynamic range video, working it much the same way as a HDR photo. The over and underexposed images are combined resulting in an impressive depth of sharpness across both high and low lights.
HDR Video provides filmmakers with many exciting new opportunities. Not only can HDR video create interesting effects, it can also allow for even exposure where artificial lighting is unavailable or impractical. For example, when a subject is backlit, one camera could be set to properly expose the subject, the other the sky, resulting in video with perfect exposure throughout.
The footage is of actual Twitteremployees. As they explain, “The employees are the stars at Twitter, and that’s who we focused on in the video (which was conceived, scripted and directed by employees).”
